Nikoleta Popkostadinova is the founder of the platform for sexual and health education of mainstream teenagers Loveguide.
In 2014, Loveguide was ranked in the top five of the competition The Game Changers, organised by Nova Broadcasting Group in partnership with Reach for Change Bulgaria. Loveguide is the Project of the Year of the Tulip Foundation, and received the “Innovators in Education” award. She has been nominated twice for “Person of the Year” by the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee.
Loveguide is trying to change the negative statistics that Bulgaria is one of Europe’s leading sexually transmitted infections and teen pregnancies.
“We give the children useful advice on how to be healthy and to know their bodies, how to build true and complete relationships, to stand for their boundaries, be tolerant with the different and take responsibility for their relationships with others,” says Nikoleta.
Through its YouTube channel and other online resources, Loveguide reaches up to 20,000 girls and boys each week. They conduct health and sex education classes for about 5,000 students in 45 schools across the country, as well as teenagers’ peer-to-peer training.
With Loveguide Nicoleta was ranked as one of the Darik Radio – “40 to 40”. One of the 40 young Bulgarians who change the status quo, are full of ideas, and are thoughtful, creative and have entrepreneurial spirit. She is also part of the ranking “The ten most prominent personalities in Bulgaria “of JCI in the category” Contribution to Children, World Peace and Human Rights “.
Prior to Loveguide, she graduated in Journalism at the American University in Bulgaria. She worked in the Capital newspaper and her human rights publications can be found in some of the most prestigious print and online publications in the world and in our country. Nikoleta graduated from the University of Amsterdam, worked at the Dutch National Radio and although she had the opportunity to stay and further develop there, she choose to return to Bulgaria.
